3 Hair colouring tips for professional looking hair!  - PcQL Article
by: M PorteousMost women would agree that there is nothing worse when it comes to their hair than a botched colouring job! A good hair colouring tip may have saved many girls and women the embarrassment of a bad colouring job right from the start! So here are a few simple hair colouring tips to make your new hair colour a success!Tip 1 - What type of colouring job? There are basically two types colouring jobs: Permanent and semi-permanent.Permanent colouring will dye your hair so it will not wash out at all. However this will leave your roots showing when they grow out which you need to be aware of. Semi-permanent colouring will only darken your hair and cannot lighten it. It also lasts a variable length of time depending on the product. This is more suitable for a home colour job but obviously has limitations. It can however be reversed easily unlike a permanent colouring!Tip 2 - Know your hair!First of all there are 10 Base Colours in the realm of hair:10. Lightest Blonde / Platinum Blonde9 - Very Light Blonde8 - Light Blonde7 - Medium Blonde6 - Dark Blonde5 - Lightest Brown4 - Light Brown3 - Medium Brown2 - Dark Brown1 - BlackThen there is the Contributing Pigment. This is the least known part of hair colouring. The underlying colour of each base color will be exposed when lightening your colour and the lighter you go the more exposure! The final colour you want will be greatly affected by this Pigment. The associated pigment colours to the base colour is as follows:10. Pale Yellow9. Yellow8. Yellow-Gold7. Gold6. Orange-Gold5. Orange4. Red-Orange3. Red2. Red-Brown1. Dark Red-BrownWhen colouring your hair you must take into account both of these element in you hair to avoid unexpected results and achieve the colour you desire. Neutralizing or enhancing the underlying pigments is absolutely vital!Tip 3 - Do a strand test!Even if you have a good idea of how your hair might turn out knowing your color and knowing what products and types of coloring you want you still want to do a strand test just to make sure. Simply apply the dyes to a stand or small lock of your hair and see the results before you apply it to your whole precious head of hair! Remember however the longer you leave the hair in the dye will effect the result so be aware that the process of application can alter the outcome. It is also a good way to get some practice.Once you have a good understanding of what will happen you can go ahead and get that great colour you want! One last piece of advice is if you are doing a home colouring job you may want to get a friend to help you especially if you have thick or long hair. I hope these hair colouring tips help!Good luck with your new colour!!About the AuthorDo you want a great new look?
